The Cottage at River Stone Ranch is the perfect romantic getaway for two. It is part of a scenic five-acre property that includes the historic River Stone Ranch House, Carriage House and Barn. The property, located in the heart of the beautiful Animas River Valley on what was once a hay farm, is on one of the most popular scenic bicycle routes in the Durango area and is conveniently located 20 minutes north of Durango and 20 minutes south of Purgatory Ski Resort. The charming one bed, one bath cottage is renovated in modern farmhouse style and is filled with light and beautifully furnished. The open concept kitchen and living area boast beautiful views to the pond and the babbling brook which meanders by the patio most of the year. The kitchen is fully stocked and the cozy living room is outfitted with a flat screen television. (Please note that the fireplace depicted in the photos is decorative only.) The bedroom has a queen-size bed dressed in luxurious linens, a large flat screen television tucked away in the bureau and an office nook overlooking beautiful views of the pond and brook. Summary: We absolutely loved our stay at the cottage! It was the perfect blend of cozy, quiet, and scenic. The views of the surrounding mountains, the peaceful pond, and the Animas River right behind the property were breathtaking. We especially enjoyed the outdoor sitting area for morning coffee while watching the mule deer graze—it was magical!The location couldn’t be better—just a short drive to downtown Durango, Purgatory Ski Resort, and the Durango Hot Springs. It truly feels like a secluded retreat in nature, yet it’s so close to all the restaurants, shops, and attractions.The host was incredibly friendly and helpful, always respectful of our privacy and focused on ensuring we had a great stay.We can’t recommend this property enough for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in the mountains. We’re already planning our next visit!
