Charming open floor plan lakeside cottage in Griswold, CT. Our rustic home has modern stylish touches and is directly on the lake. We have a dock for swimming, 2 kayaks for boating, and we have an elevated screened in porch for you to enjoy the waterfront views. Take in the sunset at dinner time or while using the outdoor firepit. There is a king sized loft bedroom upstairs and a second queen sized bedroom downstairs. There is one fully updated bathroom.
The house is direct waterfront on Ashland Lake, a ponded section of the Pachaug River in Griswold, CT. You can fish, swim, kayak, canoe, and more right off the grassy backyard of our cottage home. Use our kayaks or bring your own if you prefer - you can boat right from our personal dock in the backyard.
The house has an open concept two story living room when you walk in the door with a tv and plenty of seating, fully stocked kitchen, full bathroom, a queen sized bedroom, and a king size bedroom which has it's own sitting area and work desk. Pets are also welcome with a paid pet fee.
Important: Sheets and towels ARE included with your stay. They are washed before and after every guest, feel free to use the laundry room during your stay as needed as well. We also provide a starter pack of paper towels, toilet paper, toiletries, cleaning products, soaps, detergent, sponges, k cups, nespresso pods, and tea!

Summary: We expected a lake that we could swim in and kayak from, as that's how it was advertised. It was extremely disappointing. The water was a swampy bog. My husband spent a lot of time just shoveling out the muck, so there was a spot to step in just to get into our kayaks. The dock was unsafe; it was not secure, plus there were rotting boards. The railings leading down from the driveway to the house, were inadequate, and completely unstable, and unsafe. The charcoal grill was not usable in my opinion. I didn't expect to rent a house on the water, and have to drive 30 minutes to find a place to swim and kayak. This house was certainly not worth the money we paid!!
