Our little island lies within the North Atlantic’s Casco Bay and is a top choice stay for all those yearning to take in the ocean and visit one of New England’s most photographed landmarks, Mackerel Cove. Bailey Island is part of 216 miles of pristine coastline and one of three islands, including Sebascodegan (Great Island) and Orr’s Island, all of which are connected by bridges to each other and to the mainland. A must-experience drive for any Maine Coast visitor!
One of the truly special things about Bailey Island is its accessibility. The awe of Bailey Island starts as you cross the Cribstone Bridge—the only bridge of its kind in the world. Visitors will notice working vessels outnumber yachts here, as Bailey is home to some of the few, remaining working harbors on the Maine coast, in this region.

Savor it all from your own, private deck, while sitting in comfy Adirondack chairs surrounding your new, custom, stone fire pit, while grilling a home-cooked meal on the cottage’s grill, or even while swaying in the large L.L. Bean hammock for 1 or 2. The spacious, private yard offers beautiful flowers, two large shade trees, many grassy areas for playing games, and is just a few steps to the edge of the water and craggy coast. The cottage has new (spring '23), stone steps to a private, rocky beach landing and tide pools. Peace, privacy, and dramatic views are just some of what you'll experience here.
Summerside Cottage is nestled in the highly-desirable Cedar Beach neighborhood, where your stay also includes access to Cedar Beach overlooking the Cribstone Bridge. Take a walk there from your front door at low tide to collect sea glass, breathe in the clean, sea air, and put your feet in the water.
